San Diego's long history as a hub for refugee resettlement has given rise to numerous initiatives that center refugee experiences and concerns. This page highlights those projects and initiatives.

FUTURE Flowers:
Memory, Meaning, Mischief

is the debut solo exhibit of multidisciplinary artist and muralist Thao Huynh French, on view at San Diego Mesa College's Art Gallery from August 24 to September 17, 2026. Born in Vietnam and raised in California, French draws on her Asian American heritage and her own experience as a refugee, using flowers as recurring symbols of resilience and transformation across paintings, installations, and archival material.
