FUTURE Flowers: Memory, Meaning, Mischief is the debut solo exhibit of multidisciplinary artist and muralist Thao Huynh French, on view at San Diego Mesa College's Art Gallery from August 24 to September 17, 2026. Born in Vietnam and raised in California, French draws on her Asian American heritage and her own experience as a refugee, using flowers as recurring symbols of resilience and transformation across paintings, installations, and archival material.
As part of the exhibit, Refugee San Diego is collaborating with French on "Memory Box," an activity inviting visitors to contribute their own stories of migration, resettlement, and displacement, which will be preserved in this archive alongside her work. To keep building a collective archive of these stories beyond the exhibit's closing, Refugee San Diego will continue to accept community members’ submissions.
