HOW TO:
COVID19 VACCINATION APPOINTMENTS

Step by step instructions on how to make an appointment for the COVID19 vaccine in the San Diego county.

The COVID-19 Vaccine is FREE for EVERYONE. When scheduling your appointment you will be asked “Do you have health insurance?” If you DO NOT have health insurance, select no. You will still receive your vaccine at NO CHARGE. 

STEP 1

Go to: https://myturn.ca.gov/  and select language of preference - Select START.

STEP 2

On the Let’s Get Started page complete the following:

  1. Select the box to agree with the privacy statement.

  2. Select your age range.

  3. Select the county you live in.

  4. Answer YES or NO if you work in a different county than you live.

  5. Answer YES or NO if you will need help with transportation to a vaccine clinic, or you need a home appointment because you are unable to leave home due to limited mobility or fragile health.

    • NOTE: Someone will call you to help schedule transportation or home appointment.

  6. Answer NO you have received your first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

  7. NO ACCESS CODE NEEDED. Leave Blank.

  8. Click box to certify that you are at least 18 years of age, or an emancipated minor at least 16 years of age, or the parent or legal guardian of the minor patient.

  9. Click the box to certify that you answered the questions best to your knowledge.

    • NOTE: If at any point during the scheduling process, you are asked to input your social security number and you do not have one, write in: 000-00-0000. You will not be asked for a SSN at the vaccination site. ​

STEP 3

On the Let's Find An Appointment page, enter your address or zip code.

STEP 4

On the Select Location page

  1. Select a vaccination site that is most convenient for you.

  2. Vaccination sites that have available appointment will say Schedule appointment right under them.

  3. Vaccination sites that have drop-in’s available will say Appointments and drop-ins accepted

    • NOTE: The number of drop-in vaccinations at each location may be limited based on vaccine supply. It is recommended that an appointment is made beforehand.

  4. Patients ages 12 and older are ONLY eligible for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine

  5. Patients 18 and older are eligible for both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccine 

STEP 5

Once you have selected a vaccination site:

  1. Select a date and time for your first dosage: Appointment 1 

  2. Select a date and time for your second dosage: Appointment 2 

  • NOTE: Only the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines require a second dose.​

    • When scheduling your first vaccination appointment for Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, you are required to schedule your Second Dose Appointment at the same time.

    • If that option is not given to you, follow the same steps as though you were scheduling your first appointment but be sure to answer YES you have received your first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on the Lets Get Started page. 

 

STEP 6

Fill in your personal contact information.

 

  • NOTE: If you require accommodations at your vaccine appointment. Please select what accommodations you will be needing. 
     

STEP 7

On the day of your first appointment, you will need the following items:

  1. Photo ID (does not have to be government issued - e.g., school or work ID, membership card) and proof of age.

  2. Confirmation text or email for your appointment.

On the day of your second appointment, you will need the following items:

  1. Photo ID (does not have to be government issued - e.g., school or work ID, membership card) and proof of age.

  2. Confirmation text or email for your appointment.

  3. Your COVID-19 Vaccination Card.
